Southern Arc is a Canadian company incorporated in British Columbia in 2004. The Company is focused on enhancing shareholder value through strategic investments in mineral resource companies with a focus on gold and copper-gold.

Southern Arc's current portfolio of investments includes:

  • An investment (and largest shareholder) in Japan Gold Corp. - a Canadian junior exploration company exploring for gold in Japan;

  • An investment in Tethyan Resources plc - a junior exploration company exploring for copper, gold and other base metals within the Tethyan Mineral Belt in Eastern Europe;

  • An investment in Rise Gold Corp. - an exploration-stage mining company which owns the historic past producing Idaho-Maryland gold mine located in Nevada County, California, USA.

  • An investment in PT Ancora Indonesia Resources Tbk, - an Indonesian public company listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange

Southern Arc recognizes that the actions and conduct of all its employees and contractors are the basis by which local stakeholders will evaluate the company's commitment to social and environmental responsibility. By maintaining high standards for protecting human health and the environment, and working in cooperation with the company's host communities in Indonesia, Southern Arc endeavours to create sustainable, long-term economic and social opportunities. Among the company's goals is to be recognized by the communities, as well as central, regional and local governments, as the premier mining company for the exploration and the development of new mineral projects in Indonesia.

Southern Arc undertakes an extensive CSR program through its fully-funded foundation, with an emphasison education, community health, environmental protection and economic empowerment of localcommunities. In 2012, Southern Arc granted six micro-credit loans to local village members to support entrepreneurialinitiatives. The Company regularly contributes to cultural celebrations with gifts of food and othersupplies, and works with the local government to build schools, drill water wells and support other infrastructure projects to meet the needs of local communities.
Southern Arc also hires locally as much as possible to provide local economic and training opportunities. This policy also contributes to a better understanding for Southern Arc of local geological, mineral, and social and cultural issues. The latter is especially important as it helps to develop a local operations strategy that allows Southern Arc to:
  • develop and use systems to identify and manage risks, and provide accurate information to support effective decision making;
  • train exploration and development staff and local people and provide the resources to meet its social responsibility objectives and targets;
  • respect the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its business operations;
  • respect the social, economic and cultural rights of the local community;
  • adopt policies and standards and operating practices that ensure ongoing social, environmental, and operations improvements;
  • wherever appropriate and feasible, set operating standards that exceed the requirements of the local laws and regulations;
  • seek to share its success by partnering with stakeholders in appropriate community development programs for the benefit of all stakeholders and shareholders;
  • consult with stakeholders in a meaningful manner; and
  • strive to communicate its performance in an accurate, transparent and timely manner.
